Project: Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Survey (SSES) and
Sewer Rehabilitation
Client: City of East Point, Georgia
Location: East Point, Georgia
Objective: This project was initiated to inspect, evaluate and prioritize the rehabilitation of the deteriorating sewer system utilizing trenchless technology as much as possible.
In August 2008, an annual Sanitary Sewer System Evaluation Survey (SSES) contract was awarded to Metals & Materials Engineers (MME) inclusive of sewer system inspection, evaluation, prioritization and rehabilitation of service laterals, cleanouts, manholes and piping system throughout the City of East Point. The program started with the evaluation phase which included the CCTV and Smoke Testing operations. The data collected was then analyzed using Wallingford’s Info-Net Software for condition assessment as a basis for prioritization of system repairs. Emergency situations were immediately re-designed and rehabilitated. As a result and in an effort to reduce infiltration and inflow, over 150 manholes were recognized for epoxy lining, over 20,000 lf of pipe selected for Cured-in-place lining or pipe bursting, over 7,000LF of defective pipe re-designed and gone thru construction repairs.
MME managed the entire operation from Evaluation to Design, followed by Construction Management and Repair. To stay ahead of schedule several sub-contractors were introduced as part of our team for the manhole lining, Cured-in-Place Piping (CIPP) and to assist with the heavy construction. All aspects of the project are ahead of schedule and operating under budget.
